Overview

Imaging is where clinical AI is furthest along: roughly three quarters of FDA-authorized AI devices are radiological. This session follows one Dartmouth research project from clinical question to deployment readiness, covering how a clinical problem is reformulated as a machine learning task, how imaging data is curated, how a model is trained to detect features, and how performance is tested on populations the model has not seen. Dr. Bhattacharya closes by reading a published imaging AI study and naming the questions a clinician should put to it.
