Advancing vital aging for all
Vital aging is at the heart of person-centered care. Dartmouth Health’s Geriatric Center of Excellence (GCOE) is committed to delivering world-class, person-centered care to older adults across northern New England.
Advancing vital aging means helping older adults function at their best, no matter their specific circumstances or needs. We support vital aging by supporting coordinated, exceptional, and sustainable healthcare for older adults.
We fulfill our aims as an Age-Friendly Health System through 4 foundational pillars. These pillars work together to support, align, coordinate, and promote geriatric initiatives across Dartmouth Health:
Providing high-quality education to health professions students, healthcare professionals, patients, and families, through our Northern New England Geriatric Education Center and other education initiatives
Providing research support and mentorship to students, clinicians, and researchers studying a broad range of topics related to older adults
Ensuring that Dartmouth Health policies are consistent with Age-Friendly care, and forging relationships with key government officials and agencies to advocate for geriatric programs and research funding
