Caregivers talk with a child at the Teddy Bear Clinic

The Teddy Bear Clinic helps kids overcome the anxiety of doctor visits with play. The experience provides an opportunity for children to learn about going to the clinic by pretending to be the doctor, nurse, medical assistant, or technician.

Don't miss another fun event

Check out the Emergency Vehicle Touch-a-Truck event taking place on the same day!

The Teddy Bear Clinic empowers children by giving them responsibility to care for their bear and helps to "normalize" medical equipment and experiences.

Child at the Teddy Bear Clinic

Children take their teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal and care for them during many different medical experiences from a regular office visit to getting a cast. Some children will find the event simply fun and others may find a more therapeutic value in it, depending on their own previous or existing medical experiences.

Children can bring their own favorite stuffed animal to be the "patient" or use the teddy bear provided to each child who attends the Teddy Bear Clinic. Stations for the teddy bears will include the following:

  • Check-in
  • Emergency room visit
  • X-ray visit
  • Lab visit
  • Casting visit
  • Doctor office visit
  • Immunization visit
  • Hand hygiene visit
  • Belly breathing visit
