Medicaid – A Shifting Landscape
The Office of Government Relations is pleased to present the latest Health Policy Grand Rounds (HPGR), which provide an opportunity to hear policy experts dissect, analyze, and help us better understand policy activity. This HPGR is a virtual three-part series about the recently passed reconciliation bill (HR 1 or the One Big Beautiful Bill Act). HR. 1 contemplated cascading changes to the Medicaid program and access to other social services.
Concurrently, the New Hampshire and Vermont legislatures debated and passed significant healthcare policy, including budgets. In this series, the Office of Government Relations will host policy leaders to provide updates and analysis of the forthcoming policy changes to Medicaid and other public benefits—and how we can best navigate them for our patients, our system, and the communities we serve.

The Cure – Episode 36: 2024 Midsession Legislative Updates in New Hampshire and Vermont
Healthcare legislation advocacy plays a crucial role in shaping policies that affect the health and well-being of individuals and communities. It can lead to positive changes in healthcare systems, making healthcare more accessible, affordable, and equitable while promoting public health and patient rights. Advocacy can address barriers to healthcare access, such as insurance coverage, and geographic availability. It can also focus on addressing health disparities that disproportionately affect certain communities based on race, ethnicity, gender, and income.
In this episode, Courtney Tanner, Director of Government Relations, and Matthew Houde, Vice President of Government Relations, walk us through updates from the 2024 mid-session legislative sessions in New Hampshire and Vermont. Listen in to learn more.

What does it mean for medicine to be the best partner it can be in advancing health equity? Part of the answer is owning and achieving healthcare equity to ensure all patient populations have equitable access to high-quality medical care. This presentation will develop a common understanding of important terms (equity, health justice, community engagement, etc.) and explore the promise value-based care and alternative payment models hold for maximizing medical care’s contributions to population health equity.
