I’m honored to be included [in Becker's list], and honored that our teams across Dartmouth Health put their trust in me to lead as we chart the course forward together.

Joanne M. Conroy, MD

Dartmouth Health CEO and president Joanne M. Conroy, MD, was named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s great leaders in healthcare for 2026. Honorees were selected for defining the strategic direction, shaping the culture and embodying the mission that flows through every department, every decision, and every patient or client interaction, according to Becker’s. Others on the list include the CEOs of Boston Children’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Mayo Clinic.

“The healthcare leaders Becker’s selected to recognize this year represent hospitals and health systems nationwide, each with its own challenges to overcome as well as many they all share,” said Conroy. “What they have in common is a commitment to leadership that benefits staff and patients, and growing their institution to benefit the health of their communities into the future. I’m honored to be included, and honored that our teams across Dartmouth Health put their trust in me to lead as we chart the course forward together.”

Becker’s praised Conroy’s leadership philosophy rooted in trust, innovation and mentorship. It also highlighted Dartmouth Health’s financial turnaround, system-wide expansion, and major infrastructure projects that enhance access and clinical innovation, all under her leadership.
