I’m excited by the potential progress that can be made by convening this multidisciplinary group with a shared goal: better healthcare for all Americans, regardless of their zip code.

Dartmouth Health CEO and president Joanne M. Conroy, MD, will join a cohort of national rural health leaders at Sanford Health’s Summit on the Future of Rural Health Care. Taking place on October 14 in Sioux Falls, SD, the theme of this year’s summit is “Advancing access, quality and sustainability.”

“As the leader of the most rural academic medical system in the United States, improving health equity in the communities we serve, and other rural communities nationwide, is not only one of my top priorities, it’s also a top priority of Dartmouth Health,” Conroy said. “This year’s Sanford Summit brings together dynamic and influential voices in healthcare, technology, education, business, and government focused on accelerating progress and transforming rural care delivery. I’m excited by the potential progress that can be made by convening this multidisciplinary group with a shared goal: better healthcare for all Americans, regardless of their zip code.”

Conroy will take part in a panel discussion moderated by Newsweek healthcare editor Alexis Kayser on the unique challenges of rural healthcare and what rural health systems are doing to address them. Other panelists include Sanford CEO and president Bill Gassen, HealthPartners CEO and president Andrea Walsh, and Providence CEO and president and Erik Wexler.

“There has never been a more important time to bring together a group of dynamic leaders across the healthcare ecosystem for meaningful conversations about how we can accelerate the future of healthcare for patients, senior care residents, health plan members and communities,” Gassen said. “We look forward to a day of bold ideas, collaboration and impact as we reimagine what’s possible in rural care delivery— together.”
