Dartmouth Health physician Minda Gowarty, MD, of the Dartmouth Health Weight Center and assistant professor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine, has been named the 2026 American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) Candidate of the Year.
The national award recognized the Obesity Medicine Association member who achieved the highest score on the ABOM certification exam administered in the fall of 2025.
Gowarty specializes in weight management and obesity medicine and was the first obesity medicine fellow at Dartmouth Health. Not only does this recognition highlight her individual achievement, but also Dartmouth Health’s continued investment in specialized obesity medicine services. Dartmouth Health continues to expand access to evidence-based care for patients living with obesity and related chronic conditions.
The American Board of Obesity Medicine certifies physicians with specialized training and expertise in obesity medicine. ABOM-certified physicians provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for obesity using compassionate, evidence-based and individualized care.
