Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center's (MAHHC) Community Health Department and The Collaborative, as co-managers of the Vermont State Prevention Lead grant for Region Four (PL4), has released a Subaward Request for Applications (RFA) from October 18 – November 20, 2023. The Prevention Lead Grant is a Vermont state-funded award granted to four districts to address substance misuse prevention in communities. Anticipated total funds available through Prevention Lead Grant for contracts and subawards total $808,500.
MAHHC, a member of Dartmouth Health, is currently requesting project proposals from organizations and community agencies that align with the goals of preventing and reducing the substance use/misuse across all ages and substances as well as decreasing geographic and other health disparities. Geographically, these funds cover the populations served by the VT Department of Health District Offices of Bennington, Brattleboro, Springfield, and White River Junction. Organizations serving these areas are encouraged to apply. Funds should be used towards building infrastructure and capacity or towards developing strategies that decrease the initiation or general misuse of any substance by any age group, and/or addressing health disparities.
Funding for the awards is provided by the Vermont Department of Health, Prevention Lead Grant. "A regional approach allows us to build an expanded substance misuse prevention system in Vermont that honors and respects regional strengths and differences, includes all substances and age groups, and optimizes and enhances health and wellbeing in Vermont," said Traci Sawyers, Director of Prevention Services, Department of Substance Use Programs.
