Derick Aumann, director of NLH Ambulance ServiceNew London Hospital (NLH), a member of Dartmouth Health, is pleased to announce that its emergency medical services (EMS) team has received the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Award for its commitment to providing rapid and research-based care to individuals experiencing the most severe forms of heart attacks and strokes, ultimately saving lives.
Mission: Lifeline EMS is AHA’s national initiative to advance the system of care for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive health emergencies such as severe heart attacks and strokes. The program helps reduce barriers to prompt treatment, starting from when 911 is called to EMS transport and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge.
“While this recognition is an important reflection of NLH Ambulance Service’s commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care, it’s truly a shared achievement,” says Derick Aumann, director of NLH Ambulance Service. “We could not do this without the dedication of our community partners—the responders who are first on scene and begin critical care when every second counts. This award represents the collective effort it takes to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients.”
The Mission: Lifeline EMS achievement award focuses on agencies’ on-scene care, bringing the contributions to patient care of first responders the forefront.
“Arguably the most important link in the chains of survival for acute stroke and cardiovascular emergencies is EMS and prehospital professionals,” said Kacey Kronenfeld, MD, FAEMS, chair of the Mission: Lifeline EMS Taskforce. “The American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline EMS awards are an important way to recognize the crucial roles and performances of EMS personnel in stroke and cardiac patients’ care.”
