The Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center are bringing the spirit and impact of the Prouty, northern New England’s largest family-friendly fundraising initiative, to southern New Hampshire with the second annual Prouty Community Day and Walk on Saturday, May 16.

The event, hosted at Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics Manchester at 100 Hitchcock Way, offers a meaningful and accessible way for community members to come together in support of local cancer patients and families receiving care in southern New Hampshire. Funds raised through the walk will directly benefit patients and families receiving care at Dartmouth Cancer Center locations in Manchester and Nashua. These dollars stay local, supporting essential services such as food and gas cards for patients in need, comfort carts, and other critical resources that ease the burden of cancer care.

“We strongly believe in the importance of receiving quality cancer care close to home,” said Christi A. Hayes, MD, medical director of Dartmouth Cancer Center in Manchester and Nashua. “All funds raised for this event will stay in the Dartmouth Cancer Center Manchester and Nashua locations, supporting meaningful patient and family support services. It’s a wonderful way to support and celebrate the patients in our community.”

The day will begin at 1:00 pm with an opening ceremony led by Dartmouth Cancer Center leaders, followed by an inspiring 1-mile community walk highlighting individuals whose cancer journeys motivate and unite participants. Attendees can also visit a survivor tent honoring past and current cancer survivors, and enjoy family-friendly activities including kids’ programming, food, music and more.

The event is part of the 45th annual Prouty, which aims to raise $12 million this year to advance life-saving cancer research and patient support services at Dartmouth Cancer Center. All funds raised are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation, doubling their impact.

Community members of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate and help make a difference close to home. Register for the Manchester event at this link.
