Dartmouth Health has received the Extraordinary Employer Support Award from the New Hampshire Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (NH ESGR), recognizing the organization’s longstanding commitment to supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
The award was presented during a ceremony on June 17 at Dartmouth Health’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC).
The recognition follows Service Member Patriot Awards presented to Corey A. Siegel, MD, medical director of DHMC’s Walter and Carole Young Center for Digestive Health, and Lauren Barry, CPXP, administrative director of the Young Center. Both leaders were nominated by Timothy B. Gardner, MD, director of pancreatic disorders and medical director of the Islet Cell Transplant Program at Dartmouth Health.
The Patriot Award recognizes individual supervisors who provide exceptional support to National Guard and Reserve members. Recipients are nominated by service members and are recognized for efforts such as offering flexible work schedules, granting time off before and after deployments, supporting military families and accommodating military leave when needed.
The Extraordinary Employer Support Award recognizes employers that have demonstrated sustained support for National Guard and Reserve service members. According to NH ESGR, only organizations that previously received either the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award or the Pro Patria Award and continued that support for at least three years are eligible for consideration. DHMC previously received the award in 2017.
