I am passionate about improving access to high quality, specialized GI care and am excited to continue my research and clinical work in this area.
Jessica K. Salwen-Deremer, PhDA Dartmouth Health psychologist was recently honored for her contributions to the field of gastroenterology at the American College of Gastroenterology’s Annual Meeting. Jessica K. Salwen-Deremer, PhD, director of behavioral medicine at Dartmouth Health’s Walter and Carole Young Center for Digestive Health and assistant professor of psychiatry and medicine at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, was granted the Partner in Practice Award from Healio Gastroenterology’s Disruptive Innovator Awards.
Given in collaboration with the Rome Foundation, the Partner in Practice Award is presented to an allied healthcare provider whose innovative approaches have improved patient outcomes or quality of care, and represents the collaborative spirit of gastroenterology care.
Salwen-Deremer is a leader in gastropsychology whose research and outreach help patients manage psychological factors associated with GI disorders. Her research into sleep and fatigue in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and other chronic conditions, along with use of directed hypnotherapy in a virtual group setting, are transforming both the field and the lives of patients.
“Receiving this award is such an honor, and I’m thrilled that the work we are doing at Dartmouth Health is being recognized nationally,” Salwen-Deremer said. “GI is a team sport, and unfortunately, there are not enough gastropsychologists to go around. I am passionate about improving access to high quality, specialized GI care and am excited to continue my research and clinical work in this area.”
“Dr. Salwen-Deremer has been transformative to our practice in the Center for Digestive Health,” said Corey A. Siegel, MD, MS, director of the Young Center. “Jessiy and her team are helping so many patients by allowing us to take care of the entire person, including both their physical and mental health.”
