The AHA Heart Walk is an important effort not just to raise funds to advance lifesaving research, but to educate the public about the importance of CPR and the resources to get certified.
Richard J. Powell, MDDartmouth Health is proud to sponsor the American Heart Association New Hampshire’s 2026 Heart Walk. Happening Sunday, May 31, at Livingston Park in Manchester, hundreds of participants will walk to save lives while raising essential funds to advance lifesaving research, increase CPR education and training and drive equitable health for all people.
The American Heart Association (AHA) has put a spotlight on CPR education as a critical element of the Heart Walk campaign. According to AHA, nine out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital die, yet immediate CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival. The event will Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, as well as other interactive and educational displays.
“Someone in the U.S. suffers a heart attack roughly every 40 seconds, and the odds that person will be in a healthcare facility or with a doctor or nurse when that happens are slim to none,” said Richard J. Powell, MD, director of Dartmouth Health’s Heart and Vascular Center. “The good news: when performed correctly, CPR saves lives—and you don’t need to be a medical professional to learn how to do it. The AHA Heart Walk is an important effort not just to raise funds to advance lifesaving research, but to educate the public about the importance of CPR and the resources to get certified. The Heart and Vascular Center is proud to support AHA’s mission and this event.”
Heart Walk participants may register as individuals, start a team or join an existing team. To register, visit go.d-h.org/3epr9b.
