Joanne M. Conroy, MDVisiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire (VNH), a Dartmouth Health member, has appointed Tammy L. Tarsa, MBA, BSN, RN, to the role of chief executive officer. Tarsa has served of VNH’s CEO and president since March on an interim basis.
As CEO, Tarsa will oversee the clinical, operational and philanthropic work of VNH, which provides nursing, rehabilitation, hospice services and personal care to residents in 140 towns across the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont. She will guide the day-to-day operations of the organization while setting the strategic direction and long-range priorities to meet the increasing demand for complex community-based healthcare services.

Tarsa joined VNH in 2022 as chief clinical operations officer, successfully leading clinical operations during a time of transition and organizational restructuring. Her work included leading a process improvement plan for financial sustainability, collaborating with organizational leaders to prepare for national accreditation and establishing new safety and educational platforms. In addition, she established transparent data metrics to drive quality, improved hospice star rating to 4 stars, improved home health value-based purchasing by 310% and increased employee engagement to the 99th percentile.
Tarsa holds a bachelor of science in nursing degree from Ball State University, a master of business administration from Spring Arbor University, and is a current doctoral candidate in health administration at Central Michigan University.
