Unmanaged Personal Computers and Devices

Dartmouth Health (DH) physicians and staff are encouraged to use computers and devices that are procured, managed, and maintained by the User Support team. These are called DH-managed computers. Personal computers are unmanaged.

However, there may be times when you need to use a personal (unmanaged) computer or device to check email, messages, or other work-related activity.

Secure Access allows you to run licensed DH computer applications and access files from personal computers or devices in a way that does not compromise the organization's commitment to privacy and security.

To use Secure Access on a personal computer or device for the first time, you need to install the Citrix Workspace application. Follow the instructions for your device to install and use Secure Access.

Important: PHI and privacy

Do not save PHI (Protected Health Information) to a personal computer or any device that is not DH-managed. That would expose the organization to the risk of a data breach if the device is compromised. Protect our patients' privacy and DH by using your network drives. Learn how to access your H and I drives.
