John N. Mecchella, DO, MPH, was named Interim Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) for Dartmouth Health in June 2025. Dr. Mecchella partners closely with the chief information officer to oversee the spectrum of Dartmouth Health's information technology.

He joined Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in 2007 for his Internal Medicine Residency, followed by a Rheumatology Fellowship and Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency (LPMR). Since that time, he has been a leader in the areas of Clinical Informatics and data governance and has served as Associate Chief Health Information Officer for the Dartmouth Health system since 2017. Dr. Mecchella is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Geisel and The Dartmouth Institute and is faculty for the LPMR program. He is board-certified in Clinical Informatics and Rheumatology and continues seeing patients in the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics.

Dr. Mecchella received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health from The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice.
