Susan A. Reeves, EdD, RN, CENP, was named the Executive Vice President of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in July 2020. In this role, she is responsible for establishing and executing Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center's short and long-range objectives in the context of Dartmouth Health's Strategic Plan, to ensure efficient, effective and high-quality patient care to meet the community needs of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center service area. Reeves works in close collaboration with Dartmouth Health's chief clinical officer on the day-to-day operation of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and to align and integrate Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center into the Dartmouth Health system. Reeves' team at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center includes senior-level leaders from clinical, research, education, operations and finance.

Reeves is also the Chief Nursing Executive for the Dartmouth Health system, which she assumed in June 2017. In this role, she is responsible for setting the strategic direction for nursing across the system and for creating alignment for nursing practice across all Dartmouth Health entities.

Reeves possesses decades of knowledge and experience and has been a member of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center community for more than 40 years. Early in her career, her clinical specialty was medical oncology, with a sub-specialty in radiation oncology nursing. Later she served on the Senior Leadership Team, where she was administratively responsible for the inpatient hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Cancer Center, and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Emergency Services programs. As part of a contractual arrangement with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, beginning in 2007, Reeves led the Nursing Program at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, as the Dean and Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Professions. She stayed there until her return to Dartmouth Health as the Chief Nursing Executive in June 2017.

Reeves received her Diploma in Nursing from Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in 1980. She earned her Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing in 1988 from Colby-Sawyer College. Reeves attended the University of New Hampshire in Concord, NH, where she earned her master's degree in Nursing Administration in 1991, and earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont, in 2010.

Reeves is also a Clinical Professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College (Geisel), and a Professor Emeritus at Colby-Sawyer College. Her scholarship interests lie in the field of health care quality and patient safety, organizational ethics, and she actively participates in numerous local, regional and national programs with this focus. She serves on the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Hospital Association. At Colby-Sawyer, Reeves worked closely with faculty of Geisel to offer interprofessional education sessions to nursing and medical students as well as electives in the medical humanities.

Reeves and her husband, David, live in New London, NH. They have two sons and two grandchildren.
